Jess Theron’s mistake in Below Deck Season 12 Episode 13 explained
Jess Theron was slated to lead by example, but things took a turn in Episode 13 of Below Deck that had Captain Kerry worried about Jess’s mental health and current condition. At the end of the night, the Captain asked Jess to “prep the anchor,” but Jess started dropping it. This snowballed into a series of mistakes and ended with Jess breaking down.
Kerry talked it out with Jess, but reminded her that this was a mistake she could not make again. Jess admitted that she was in her own head and that her distraction was the major reason behind her slipping.
Is Jess’ love triangle with Barbara and Solene causing problems in Below Deck Season 12?
While Jess pointed out another reason, Jess’s boss, Bosun Hugo Ortega, believed there was a bigger factor at play. He said her love triangle with stewardesses Bárbara Kulaif and Solène Favreau was a major reason behind her distraction. Hugo said about Jess, “To be honest, I’m concerned about Jess’s performance…I 100 percent know that something’s distracting her.”
He continued, “It doesn’t help that she’s having all these relationships going on in the boat, and it’s starting to bleed into work.” He added. “I’m really worried about where this is going to go.”
This may not be the only reason behind the drop in her performance. After another fiasco, Jess ran into Kerry. Further, she explained that the primary charter guest’s health was a major issue for her. She said, “I think with the whole guest and the chemo thing, it’s kind of hitting home a little.”
She further added to this in the confessional interview, saying, “I think with the charter guest, given the cancer, it really hits home.” Kerry ultimately advised Jess to take a break and clear her head.
