Hulu won’t release a new episode of The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 on June 3 as the series has ended.
Part 6 aired its final episode, titled “The Handmaid’s Tale,” on May 26, 2025. The new season consisted of a total of ten episodes, following the pattern of the first and previous two seasons, while Seasons 2 and 3 had 13 episodes each.
Following the premiere of Season 6 Episode 10, speculation surrounding the series’ future arose. Recently, streaming platforms have been releasing their shows’ seasons in parts to generate hype. However, The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 isn’t following this pattern as all its episodes have been released on their scheduled release date and times.
Moreover, there is no Season 7 on the horizon. Hulu confirmed that The Handmaid’s Tale ends with Season 6 in 2022, years ahead of its release. Creator Bruce Miller also originally planned a five-season arc for the show. However, they decided to come up with another season while heading into the fifth installment.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “We were doing a little retreat before the beginning of the season five writers’ room, and we were talking with Bruce, and Bruce was like, ‘I think we have two more seasons.’ He was like, ‘I think we should do two more.’ And we’re like, ‘Okay, let’s do it. We’ll do two more.'”
While The Handmaid’s Tale has ended with Season 6, fans of the series need not fret. Gilead’s story will continue in a spin-off series, The Testaments, based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel. The show is expected to premiere in 2026.
