Taylor Swift in Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni Case: New Update Explained

Taylor Swift was subpoenaed in the legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively. The singer’s involvement in the case surfaced after Baldoni included excerpts of Lively’s chat in his lawsuit, where she apparently mentions Swift as one of her “dragons.

Taylor Swift’s team has slammed the star’s subpoena in Justin Baldoni‘s lawsuit against Lively, calling it “tabloid clickbait.” The Grammy winner’s spokesperson released a statement regarding the case and denied Swift’s involvement.

The spokesperson for the “All Too Well” singer told TMZ, “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie.” The statement also clarified that the pop sensation had no involvement in “any casting or creative decisions.”

The spokesperson further said, “She did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film; she did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”

Previously, Baldoni leaked alleged texts from Lively. The actor claimed that the Gossip Girl star utilized her friendship with Swift to put pressure on certain decisions. The main point of Lively’s “leverage” was Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet.” Swift ultimately consented to the song’s usage in the movie’s official trailer.

The Jane the Virgin star alleged that Lively threatened to “change her mind” about reaching out to the singer regarding the approval of using her track, “My Tears Ricochet.” Now, the “Lover” hitmaker’s spokesperson said that the only involvement that the singer had was licensing the mentioned track.

Swift’s team added, “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

The legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively started in 2024. Initially, The Age of Adaline star had filed a civil rights complaint against her Baldoni. The actress had accused him of sexual harassment during filming.

Lively had also claimed that Baldoni showed “retaliatory or abusive behavior.” An attorney for Baldoni denied the initial allegations as “completely false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious.” Baldoni’s team alleged that Lively participated in a “smear campaign.”
