Deadline recently reported about Amell’s casting in the Suits spinoff. This role marks a drastic change in the kind of characters that he plays. After all, he has made a career playing action-centric roles.
While Oliver Queen/ Green Arrow is his most popular character, he also appeared as Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, played a superhero in Code 8 (will soon star in its sequel), and played a professional wrestler in Heels.
Now, he is set to play a lawyer in Suits L.A. which is a complete turnaround for him. It may be the need of the hour for the 42-year-old, who is probably looking to move on from characters that require more physicality.
Who is Stephen Amell playing in Suits LA?
Stephen Amell will be playing Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who has moved to Los Angeles after practicing in New York.
The series is reportedly centered on Amell’s character Ted, who is described as a “charismatic force of nature who puts his own needs above others.” He built his LA Law Firm 15 years ago by teaming up with his old buddy, Stuart Lane. His firm specializes in entertainment and criminal law. So, he represents LA’s most powerful clients. But he is caught in a difficult situation as his firm faces a crisis.
The supporting characters around him are made to check their loyalties with him and each other. It’ll be interesting to see who joins the cast of Suits L.A. to play these supporting characters alongside Amell. The series will begin filming in late March 2024. So, the other actors joining the cast will likely be announced soon.
