Black Adam: Will Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Return to the DC Movies?

With James Gunn’s DCU coming into effect, fans of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wish to find out if he will be back as Black Adam. Quite a few old DCEU characters are reprising their roles in Gunn’s new universe. Will Dwayne Johnson be one of them? Here’s all you need to know.

Will Black Adam return to the DCU?

The Black Adam character could return in the rebooted DCU. But following the box office disappointment of Black Adam, it’s unlikely for Dwayne Johnson to reprise his role.

Dwayne Johnson was planning to be a crucial part of the DCEU beyond his first movie. He was set to star in a Black Adam vs. Superman movie alongside Henry Cavill. Meanwhile, the Justice Society characters could have possibly got a project before Johnson’s Black Adam teamed up with them in another Justice League event. But after Black Adam’s failure at the box office, DC took a new direction.

Warner Bros. Discovery launched DC Studios and hired James Gunn and Peter Safran as its CEOs. Both of them decided to move forward with a rebooted universe that will bring back John Cena’s Peacemaker, Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller, and a few others, but mostly feature new actors for primary characters such as Black Adam.

So, with Superman being recast, it’s likely that Black Adam will also be played by a new actor instead of Dwayne Johnson, once he gets added to a future DCU story by James Gunn and Co.

Will Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson be in more DC movies?

It’s unlikely for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to be in more DC movies after his Black Adam exit.

Dwayne Johnson was cast as Black Adam in late 2007 and made his debut 15 years later. The character and the project were considered quite personal to him. But now that the DCU is being rebooted, he is not confirmed to return any time soon.

It’s known that The Rock gets attached as a producer for most of his films and has a huge say in them. With James Gunn and Peter Safran being in charge, he likely wouldn’t get the same kind of control that he did with Black Adam. So, there are very low chances of him being in more DC movies as Black Adam or any other character.

Instead, we might see his return in future Jumanji and Fast & Furious movies. Besides them, his upcoming roster includes Red One, Red Notice 2 & 3, and a live-action Moana remake.
