Rebel Moon r rated cut Part One A Child of Fire Netflix release date

Rebel Moon Part One: Is There an R-Rated Cut of A Child of Fire?

With Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire hitting theatres and arriving on Netflix, fans wish to know if the film will have an R-rated cut. Many were surprised to see it get a PG-13 rating. But here’s what you need to know about the possible release of an R-rated cut.

Is there an R-rated cut of Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire?

There will be an R-rated cut for Rebel Moon Part One, as Zack Snyder has already confirmed it.

Zack Snyder is another director who loves to operate in the R-rated space, with 300, Army of the Dead, and Watchmen being proof of that. While he has delivered PG-13 movies such as Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League in the past, he later came up with R-rated versions of them.

Now, with Rebel Moon heading to Netflix, many fans expected Snyder to deliver a big-budget R-rated sci-fi movie. However, to the surprise of many fans, the film turned out to be PG-13. But don’t be disappointed because Snyder has already confirmed that an R-rated cut for the film exists and will be released down the line.

The PG-13 cut was developed so the film could reach a wider audience. But the R-rated cut allows Snyder to deliver a sci-fi action movie that mature audiences would enjoy even more. He stated that the PG-13 cut already pushes the boundaries of its rating. But while speaking with Entertainment Weekly, here’s what he said about the adult-oriented cut:

“This was the first time I had ever been able to make a movie and plan for that. The cut was not me fighting with them like, ‘Okay, you won’t do what I want. Can I at least release it on DVD?’ It was us going together. … I’m super proud of the PG-13 version, the broader audience version, because I would say it really satisfies an awesome, timeless, mythological scope. [But] what we’ve done with the other version is fun and subversive because an R-rated sci-fi movie at this scale shouldn’t exist.”

Fans of hardcore gory action sequences will certainly enjoy the R-rated cut better.

When will Netflix release the R-rated cut of Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire?

While Snyder hasn’t revealed a release window for Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire’s R-rated cut, Netflix could release it before Part 2: The Scargiver.

It would make sense for the streaming giant to release the R-rated cut of Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire one or two months after the PG-13 release on December 22, 2023. That way, viewers could enjoy both cuts before Part 2 arrives. But since the two parts are coming so close to each other, Snyder could go on to release the R-rated cuts of both films after Part 2: The Scargiver begins streaming on April 19, 2024.
