Is Jason Momoa Leaving Aquaman to Play Lobo After The Lost Kingdom?

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom brings back Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, the new King of Atlantis. But will he continue to play the part in James Gunn’s DCU, or will he be recast as Lobo? Here’s all you need to know about Jason Momoa’s DC future.

Will Jason Momoa play Arthur Curry after Aquaman 2?

Even though Jason Momoa is arguably the perfect version of Aquaman, he has teased that he might be done with the role after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Recently when Jason Momoa appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, he was asked about his future as Aquaman after the upcoming sequel. Not only did he confirm that Aquaman 2 will bring the old DCEU to an end, but he also teased that his journey as Arthur may be coming to an end.

While he did mention that he could return as Aquaman if people liked The Lost Kingdom, he was very excited to mention, “There will always be a place for me at DC. They like me.” So, unless Aquaman 2 becomes another billion dollar entry, it’s possible that his portrayal of Aquaman will end with the film and he will move on to a new role after that.

Is Jason Momoa playing Lobo in James Gunn’s DCU?

Following the long-running rumors of Jason Momoa being cast as Lobo in James Gunn’s DCU, the actor himself confirmed that he might be moving on to a new role.

Back in October, insider Jeff Sneider stated on The Hot Mic podcast that Momoa had already been cast as Lobo, and his announcement will be made in 2024. Now, with the actor himself teasing that he’d always have a place in DC even if he doesn’t play Aquaman, it is quite likely that the Lobo conversation has happened with him.

While it hasn’t been officially announced yet, all signs point to Jason Momoa switching to play the main man, Lobo, after being done with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
