Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience Announced

Since applying the prefix “Metal Gear Solid V” to two different games was probably confusing for some, Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, including both Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, plus all of the DLC content for both games.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 11 at a MSRP of $49.99. You can check out the cover art for the release below.

Several months after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes takes place at a US facility in Cuba in 1975. Snake has received word that Paz, a female spy who had once infiltrated his army’s Mother Base is alive and being interrogated there. The base housed a prison facility – a black-site that could operate outside the laws of both Cuba and the United States, where extreme forms of interrogation were sanctioned. Upon learning of the situation, Chico, a young volunteer in Snake’s army with feelings for Paz, took it upon himself to rescue her. It wasn’t long before Snake received a distress call from Chico revealing that he had also been captured. With few options left, Snake embarks on a covert mission to reclaim both Paz and Chico from Cuba while Mother Base prepares to welcome its nuclear inspection.

The Definitive Experience also includes the Déjà Vu and Jamais Vu missions, which were previously only released on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, respectively.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain takes place in Afghanistan 9 years after the events of Ground Zeroes. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan has brought a new edge to the Cold War, and in 1984, a one-eyed man with a prosthetic arm appears in the country. Those who know him call him Snake; the legendary mercenary who was once swept from the stage of history and left in a coma by American private intelligence network Cipher. Snake is accompanied by Ocelot, an old friend who saved him from attack when he finally awoke.

Now, Snake’s former partner Kazuhira Miller is being held by the Soviet forces in Afghanistan. Snake must undertake a solo mission to rescue Miller and prove to the world that the legendary mercenary is not dead and gone. That first step will lead to a path of vengeance against the very Cipher that slaughtered so many of Snake’s men, and to a battle that will embroil the whole world…
