Xbox May Update Adds Keyboard and Mouse Support for Cloud Gaming

The Xbox May Update has begun rolling out today and its main feature is that it adds keyboard and mouse support with Xbox Cloud Gaming. The bad news is that only 26 games that are available through cloud gaming will have that support for now, and Microsoft didn’t mention whether that list will grow in the future.

How to use mouse and keyboard support for Xbox Cloud Gaming

Mouse and keyboard support is available for those who are cloud gaming on Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browsers. When signed in on the xbox.com/play website, the following 26 games can be controlled using a keyboard and mouse:

  • ARK Survival Evolved
  • Atomic Heart
  • Cities: Skylines – Mayor’s Edition
  • Cities: Skylines – Remastered
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • Doom 64
  • Fortnite (browser only)
  • Gears Tactics
  • Grounded
  • Halo Infinite
  • High on Life
  • House Flipper
  • Inkulinati (Game Preview)
  • Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
  • Norco
  • Pentiment
  • Quake
  • Quake 2
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Slime Rancher 2
  • Sniper Elite 5
  • State of Decay 2
  • Terraria
  • The Sims 4
  • Valheim (Game Preview)
  • Zombie Army 4: Dead War

Later in the month, players will also be able to use mouse and keyboard controls in the Xbox app on PC. All of the compatible games will have a mouse and keyboard badge.

Another May update addition includes a new Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II channel that features video content ahead of the game’s May 21 release date.

Compact Mode also gets a few tweaks, including the addition of “Jump back in” and “Friends” features. The former allows players to access the last nine games they have played on their Windows device. The latter now makes it easier to access the Friends panel using a controller.

While not included in this update, Microsoft is currently testing out another new feature in the Insider channels. In the future, it will be possible to preload game updates ahead of time. Sea of Thieves Insider was the first to use this feature and the full list of games that are making use of this can be seen at My games & apps > Manage > Updates.
