2 Classic N64 Games Added to Nintendo Switch Online

A pair of Nintendo 64 racing games are now available for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. Players can put rubber to the road in the futuristic racing game Extreme-G or roll out with Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls.

Two N64 racing games come to Nintendo Switch Online

Developer Probe Entertainment and publisher Acclaim Entertainment released Extreme-G in 1997. Set in the distant future, the game sees racers darting across a destroyed earth. Their plasma-powered motorcycles rocket down the twelve roller coaster-like tracks at incredible speed and boast various offensive and defensive abilities. The Nintendo Switch Online version also supports four-player local and online multiplayer. The game saw a fairly positive reception at launch, averaging 82/100 on Metacritic.

Meanwhile, 1998’s Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls shows you don’t need wheels to have a racing game. The game was developed by Iguana Entertainment and initially published by Acclaim, with Throwback Entertainment publishing it for Nintendo Switch Online. The game features several ball-shaped characters ascending towering tracks. Players use grappling hooks to both climb up platforms and slow down opponents. It also supports up to four players in competitive multiplayer. Reckin’ Balls didn’t have the best critical reception, with review aggregator GameRankings giving it an average score of 69.35%.

Note that members needed Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass to play N64 games like Extreme-G and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls. It costs $49.99 for one year, about $20 more than the standard membership. In addition to N64 games, it also grants access to Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis catalogs, as well as the NES, SNES, and Game Boy Games from the standard membership.
