Japanese PlayStation Store Leaks Sega’s Judgment Sequel

The rumored follow-up to Yakuza spin-off Judgment has been confirmed in a roundabout way thanks to the brief appearance on the Japanese PlayStation Store.

The sequel, entitled Lost Judgment, appears to continue the story of Takayuki Yagami following the 2018 release. The entry, which was spotted by several on social media and shared by gaming news guru @Wario64, includes an early access release date of September 21 and confirms a release on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Judgment‘s sequel has already been teased in recent times, with the game’s official Twitter account releasing footage that fans noticed wasn’t from the original game. The original also received a recent next-gen upgrade to PlayStation 5 and a full release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Stadia, hinting that SEGA wants to give everyone the chance to catch up with the story before Lost Judgment‘s debut.

Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Judgment follows the story of lawyer-turned-detective Takayuki Yagami as he investigates a corpse that had its eyes removed. A contrast to the studio’s usual work with crime families in the Yakuza series, critics and fans called Judgment one of the best games of 2019.

With the traditional E3 timeframe of June soon approaching, it’s likely that SEGA will have plenty to say about Lost Judgment very soon. It’s unknown whether the game will launch as a PlayStation exclusive like the first one or venture out onto more platforms, but the market is certainly there for more Yakuza-like games across the board.
