Disney unveils first look at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
After announcing a March 2020 opening earlier this month for the upcoming ride, Disney has unveiled a behind-the-scenes look at Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway that is set to open in spring at Florida’s Walt Disney World, which can be viewed in the player below!
The ride is described as a “family-friendly dark ride that offers a zany, out-of-control adventure with unpredictable twists and turns, visual effects and transformations that happen during the scenes.” Parkgoers will step through the movie screen and join Mickey and other Disney friends on a railway adventure as they take part in the world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short.
Based on the recent award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, the attraction will use a mix of screens and audio-animatronics alongside a pioneering technology that Imagineering is calling “2 1/2 D” to bring various scenes involving Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and other Walt Disney friends to life.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will first open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios beginning on March 4, 2020, with plans to clone the attraction at Toontown in California’s Disneyland currently set to open in 2022!
