The ongoing modern C-drama Best Choice Ever released episode 16 on April 15, 2024. It features popular actors Yang Zi and Xu Kai in the main roles. The episode focuses on Cheng Huan’s (Yang Zi) mother trying to get her married to her ex-boyfriend, Jia Liang. Mrs. Mai lies to Cheng Huan and convinces her to dress up for a family get-together at the hotel. Cheng Huan finds it suspicious but decides to go along with it for her mother’s happiness. Upon reaching the banquet hall, her mother opens up to her and urges her not to hold any grudges against her.
Cheng Huan is surprised to see Jia Liang standing on the stage, and an announcer introduces him as the groom. Cheng Huan lashes out at her mother for lying to her. Jia Liang tells her that his sister had lied to her, saying that she agreed to this.
Mr. Mai and Cheng Huan’s brother try to talk to Mrs. Mai, but she is not ready to listen to anybody or admit her mistake. She thinks that Cheng Huan and Jia Liang are made for each other, and she is only speeding up the process. Meanwhile, Zhi Ming (Xu Kai) finds out about the situation and rushes to the wedding venue.
Best Choice Ever ep 16: Yang Zi has a fall out with her mother
Cheng Huan announces in front of everyone that she broke up with Jia Liang and the marriage won’t be taking place. Her mother tells her to keep quiet since many of their relatives are present there. Cheng Huan tells her that she can finally see things clearly. She tells her mother that she is grateful to her for providing for her, but it does not give her the right to interfere in her personal life. Cheng Huan’s mother slaps her in front of everyone.
Cheng Huan leaves the wedding hall in tears. Zhi Ming decides to go after her. He calms her down and asks her not to make any prompt decision. Cheng Huan is in a dilemma as it was the first time she went against her parents. She comes home and starts packing up. She asks for freedom from her parents.
Cheng Huan’s father has always had her back. He asks her to take care of her and gives her his card to take care of expenses. Cheng Huan finds Zhi Ming waiting for her in his car. He offers to arrange a place for her, but Cheng Huan refuses. Meanwhile, Cheng Huan’s friend, Mao, arrives at the spot and takes Cheng Huan with her.
Mao takes Cheng Huan to her grandmother’s house. She takes Cheng Huan in for the time being. Cheng Huan opens up to her grandmother about how she has been suffering because of her mother. She says that she put up with her mother’s controlling nature and never questioned her, as she knew how much she was suffering. But, at the end of the day, her mother labeled her as ungrateful.
Cheng Huan’s grandmother consoles her. Meanwhile, Zhi Ming and Cheng Huan’s bond starts to get stronger.
