Star Wars: Twin Crossroads will narrate the origin story about Leia Organa’s lightsaber. Beth Revis’ novel is set for a 2027 release after its announcement at the San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
The story will explore the incidents that take place following Return of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker and Leia will be the novel’s central characters, seen training together on the remote world of Ajan Kloss. However, one of the biggest points of interest in the book would be the revelation of how Leia got her own lightsaber.
Shedding light on the matter in an exclusive interview with Starwars.com, Revis sounded overly excited to have been able to narrate the story.
What did the writer of Star Wars: Twin Crossroads say about the new Leia story?
During the interview, Revis pointed out how she almost did not believe she was being entrusted with telling the story of Leia Organa getting hold of her Jedi lightsaber. Revis said, “My favorite thing was coming up with where Leia got her kyber crystal, which I cannot believe they let me do.” She further added, “I flipped out. This is the first time I’ve ever been able to talk about it!”

Delving deep into the book, the author pointed out how she did every possible research to make the book intriguing. According to Revis, it covers elements of galactic storytelling, such as Andor, Star Wars: Battle of Jakku comics, and the Skywalker Saga trilogy. She also had to study Madeleine Roux’s Star Wars: Legacy in detail to approach her own book properly.
Such a reveal has instantly set some high expectations for the upcoming book. Apart from Leia’s lightsaber’s origin story, the book will also explore how Leia and Luke will battle against Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala’s legacies.
Beth Revis’ Star Wars: Twin Crossroads will be available to readers from April 2027 onwards.
