David Ayer and Shia LaBeouf Reunite for Crime Thriller

Transformers and American Honey star Shia LaBeouf will be reteaming with director David Ayer for new crime thriller, titled Tax Collector, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The outlet also reported that For The People‘s Bobby Soto has also been cast in the film. Ayer will write and direct the film which is rumored to be in the same gritty vein like Ayer’s earlier films. No release date has been set for the thriller, but production is said to begin this summer in Los Angeles.

David Ayer and Chris Long’s (Mr. Mercedes) Cedar Park Entertainment will produce Tax Collector, along with Cross Creek Pictures. Cross Creek previously produced the likes of Hacksaw Ridge, Black Mass, Roman J. Israel, Esg., The Ides of March, and Black Swan.

Ayer is currently working on the sequel to Netflix’s fantasy film Bright which he is also writing. His previous credits also include Suicide Squad, End of Watch, Street Kings, and Training Day. LaBeouf can be seen recently in theaters with the drama Borg vs. McEnroe and will be seen next in his semi-autobiographical Honey Boy. The pair previously worked together on the World War II Tank film Fury.
