Burlington! Filmmaker Jovanka Vuckovic Launches Tattoo Parlor and Art Gallery with Original Clive Barker Paintings

Filmmaker Jovanka Vuckovic opens new tattoo parlor/art gallery and spotlights Clive Barker.

When Jovanka Vuckovic left her position as editor of Canadian horror film magazine Rue Morgue, it seemed as if her presence in arcane cinema culture had halted.

For about 5 minutes, anyway.

Quickly, she boomeranged back, emerging as an internationally decorated filmmaker and author, her tattooed, fire-red-dyed image a match for her passion for horror history.

Now, Vuckovic and her partner, tattoo artist and musician Shane Faulkner, are on the cusp of opening a unique business, in their home of Burlington, Ontario, just outside of Toronto.

It’s called The Tell Tale Heart Tattoo & Gallery, and it is scheduled to celebrate its Grand Opening on March 12th, 2016. The hand-crafted boutique tattoo parlor and art gallery is located at 496 Brant Street in historical downtown Burlington, Ontario (incidentally, on the strip of road this writer shot his first feature film, BLOOD FOR IRINA on) with a celebrity roster of international artists from the worlds of fine art, film and comics. The Tell Tale Heart Inaugural Group Art Show will proudly premiere a series of original oil paintings by legendary author, painter and filmmaker Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Nightbreed) based on “The Midnight Meat Train,” one of Barker’s most popular stories from the award-winning Books of Blood anthology.

Joining Barker for the group show are high-profile international artists Travis Louie, Chet Zar, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, illustrators Daniele Serra and Nat Jones, as well as hand-picked complementary Canadian artists — who are all creating exclusive original works inspired by the Edgar Allan Poe story “The Tell-Tale Heart” for the show.

“We are immensely proud to be able to bring such high caliber artists to Canada for our inaugural art show,” says Vuckovic. “This is the first time Clive Barker has ever exhibited a series from the Books of Blood anywhere in our country. He rarely parts with his art, and we are honored Clive has chosen us to present his works in person, and at totally accessible price points for fans and collectors.”

The opening reception will take place on March 12, 2016 from 6-9pm with catering by celebrity top chef Scott Bailey of Compass Restaurant. The Tell Tale Heart Inaugural Group Art Show will run through September 12, 2016. Gallery Hours: MondaySaturday, 12-6pm.
