Why West Departed Haunting in Georgia

The reason won’t surprise you

Ti West knows what he wants and what movies he wants to make. And creative control is key. So it’s no surprise that, when faced with a relatively larger scale picture than what he’s used to making – not to mention with a seasoned company – he backed out. That’s what happened on Gold Circle’s The Haunting in Georgia which he was going to direct.

“We got to the point where we were making different movies, and it was like I don’t want to risk us realizing that so late in the game,” he recounts to FearNET. “It’s also important for me to write and direct my own movies and edit them, so with this MPI-Glass Eye Pix thing, I can do that. The Innkeepers can be my own movie, and [to do that] as long as I can do that is important.”
