New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ TV Spots and Yondu Character Poster

Marvel is definitely showing confidence in Guardians of the Galaxy as I’ll be screening it here in Seattle more than a week before its release date. Typically markets outside of New York and Los Angeles have to wait until at least the week of release for their press screenings so this is a good sign.

With that out of the way, today we have two new extended TV spots for the upcoming movie along with a new character poster featuring Michael Rooker as Yondu, who apparently is a big deal considering they saved his big reveal for last and have now become rather focused on his character… though that could also have something to do with his history with director James Gunn after the two of them made the entertaining “slugs from space” movie Slither.

Either way, check out the trailers and poster below and look for Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1.

An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), a gun-toting raccoon, Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
