The Eyes Have It in First ‘I Origins’ Trailer

“Why are you working so hard to disprove God?”

It’s an interesting question as I think the same could be asked of the opposite and it’s just as interesting to wonder how someone could go through life not wondering at all, content at all times to just… be. This, among other things came to mind while I was watching the following first trailer for I Origins, which was acquired by Fox Searchlight out of Sundance and set for a July 18 release.

Then again, after watching just the first half of the trailer, I was ready to write it off as the characters seem to be speaking in what some movies consider to be “high minded” intelligentsia as if it is saying something new. I mean, the thing with the elevens drawing someone to a billboard featuring someone’s eyes? Come on. However, it appears that’s just the start of it all.

Directed by Mike Cahill (Another Earth) and starring Michael Pitt and Brit Marling, I Origins follows a molecular biologist (Pitt) whose study of the human eye points to evidence with far reaching implications about our scientific and spiritual beliefs.
