Welcome to our 2013 Oscars Live Blog with up-to-the-minute live winners, commentary, red carpet coverage and overall merriment. We are kicking this thing off at 3:30 PM PST and carrying on until 9 PM PST, which means you better have food and water because it’s going to be a long night.

To the right you can see the order in which the awards will be handed out and if you took a look at the reader prediction results compared to mine and my live-blogging partner, Laremy Legel, you know there are at least seven interesting races and the most interesting of which is the first of the night… Best Supporting Actor. I have placed an * next to the most interesting races of the night based on predictions, but for more on why I chose those, click here.

In case you’re interested, myself, Laremy and the readers predicted Argo to win Best Picture, but don’t think that doesn’t mean Lincoln and even Silver Linings Playbook doesn’t still stand a chance. As a matter of fact, to go along with the interesting races highlighted above, keep an eye on Best Director where Steven Spielberg faces stiff competition from Ang Lee (Life of Pi) and while most everyone expects Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook) to win Best Actress, Emmanuelle Riva (Amour has been coming on strong. I’ve highlighted those races with an † on the schedule of events above.

It’s going to be a lot of fun, and just to give you one more thing to think about, here are my Oscar counts per film based on my predictions (excluding the shorts):

  1. Life of Pi – 4 wins
  2. Argo – 3 wins
  3. Les Miserables – 3 wins
  4. Anna Karenina – 2 wins
  5. Lincoln – 2 wins
  6. Silver Linings Playbook – 2 wins
  7. Amour – 1 win
  8. Brave – 1 win
  9. Searching for Sugar Man – 1 win
  10. Skyfall – 1 win

As for what you can expect from this live blog, we will be posting up-to-the-second commentary with each update having either my name in red or Laremy’s name in blue next to the time stamp. All winner announcements will be highlighted like this so they will be easy to spot and they’ll also be listed in the right-hand-column on this page, just give it a refresh to update or participate in the comments below, which will also refresh the content of the page.

So get ready, in just a few short hours it all begins and hopefully you’re prepared. We’ll be back around 3:30 PST / 6:30 EST and we won’t stop until the last award is handed out.

Stay tuned, we’ll be beginning shortly…

[3:30:33 PM] Brad says: We are here and we are loving it! Jessica Chastain already walked the carpet… what is she doing here so early?

[3:31:53 PM] Brad says: Amy Adams is even here. I guess it would be more fun to get there early as opposed to later when the madness really gets underway.

[3:34:19 PM] Brad says: I have no idea what these OTRC people are all about or why a Real Housewife of Someplace Somewhere is on the panel. Brandi something?

[3:34:26 PM] Laremy says: Hi Brad!

[3:35:11 PM] Brad says: George something is chatting with Channing Tatum and a pregnant Jenna Dewan. George thinks Channing is humble.

[3:35:41 PM] Laremy says: I love Channing Tatum. But let’s not forget he’s in G.I. Joe 2. #NeverForget

[3:35:58 PM] Laremy says: I can reveal what Tatum is doing on the show: he’s dancing. Scoop!

[3:36:39 PM] Brad says: Oh, C-Tates is doing something tonight? Will he do a Magic Mike stripper performance? Maybe an impromptu “Ladies of Tampa” with Matthew McConaughey even though that song was wrongly left off the nomination list for Best Original Song?

[3:37:42 PM] Laremy says: On second thought, he might be disavowing G.I. Joe

[3:38:46 PM] Brad says: Russ Leatherman is calling himself “Mr. Moviefone” and then predicting chalk. Take a risk Mr. Moviefone!

[3:38:55 PM] Laremy says: We’ve got a Russ Leatherman sighting! He’s my favorite of all the Leathermans. Fred Leatherman is a real piece of work.

[3:39:01 PM] Brad says: Is Leatherman a real name btw?

[3:41:49 PM] Laremy says: I’m hungry. I ordered pizza for us but it hasn’t come yet. I blame Brad.

[3:41:53 PM] Brad says: Quvenzhane Wallis has a little stuffed dog. Those young Oscar nominees are so crazy.

[3:43:37 PM] Brad says: You can tell all of these people sat home practicing how to say Quvenzhane because they are saying her name at every opportunity possible. At least they practiced.

[3:45:16 PM] Laremy says: The pizza is here! Wishing for things works!

[3:45:52 PM] Brad says: What will Anne Hathaway be wearing tonight? We are all dying to know!

[3:47:09 PM] Brad says: Laremy ordered pizza, which is something that makes me very happy. Pizza and the big debate over what Anne will wear at the Oscars… My life has led to this!

[3:47:14 PM] Laremy says: Probably a dress.

[3:48:55 PM] Laremy says: I also ordered Orange Crush soda because that’s what I plan on doing for the next five hours.

[3:50:13 PM] Brad says: Zoe Saldana? How do the invites to this work? I don’t think she’s a member of the Academy, but I could be wrong.

[3:51:03 PM] Brad says: Oh, and a little tip while reading the live blog try to only refresh every few minutes so the server doesn’t die. Thanks!

[3:53:51 PM] Laremy says: Sally Field and I have the same chance of winning an Oscar this evening.

[3:54:30 PM] Brad says: Sally Field and George just had a conversation, it was riveting.

[3:55:12 PM] Brad says: Oh man, Red Hot Twitter results! Brandi thinks Reese Witherspoon is the best dressed. This is getting really real.

[3:55:54 PM] Laremy says: Cheetara is making jokes for daaaaayzz. You guys are missing out.

[3:56:28 PM] Brad says: Jennifer Lawrence is wearing a comforter. Gotta keep warm at the Oscars.

[3:57:23 PM] Brad says: This is intense, the pre-red carpet show is ending and the actual red carpet show is about to begin. As a result, we’re going to page two, join us will you.
