First Clip from ‘The Paperboy’ with John Cusack and Matthew McConaughey

Over the next few days I am probably going to have a lot of posts like this as we get closer to May 16 and the first day of the 2012 Cannes Film Festival as clips and pictures begin trickling in for the film’s playing the fest. To begin I have this first clip from The Paperboy directed by Lee Daniels (Precious) featuring John Cusack and Matthew McConaughey.

The film is an adaptation of the Peter Dexter novel and follows Ward James (McConaughey), a Miami Times reporter who returns to his hometown to investigate the murder of a local sheriff who is eventually helped by his younger brother Jack (Zac Efron) as they investigate the possible wrongful conviction of a man on death row. Throughout the process Jack falls for the woman (Nicole Kidman) whom the convict (Cusack) has been romancing through prison correspondence.

Millennium Films is expected to release the film later this year and the Cannes press screening will be held Wednesday, May 23 after which I will have a review online. Fingers crossed this one is as good as I want it to be.
