Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu was in the news this week for the debut of his latest film, Biutiful (my review here), here at the Cannes Film Festival, but today we have a bit of additional news surrounding the director that isn’t necessarily movie related, but well worth mentioning here.
Featured below is a three-minute Nike ad directed by Inarritu for Nike’s “Write the Future” campaign promoting the company’s new Elite series ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The commercial includes soccer personalities such as Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo as well as other sports stars including Roger Federer, Los Angles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant as well as Homer J. Simpson and Gael Garcia Bernal.
If you only thought Inarritu could direct somber misery porn give this one a watch. Granted, it’s just a commercial, but it is one hell of a commercial if you ask me.
