Today Universal debuted new pictures, the psoter and the trailer for the long-delayed, release date hopping, title changing adaptation of Darren Shan’s series of books Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant. The film stars John C. Reilly, Salma Hayek, Ken Watanabe, Willem Dafoe, Josh Hutcherson and Chris Massoglia and is directed by Paul Weitz (American Pie and About a Boy).
The film tells the tale of a boy who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.
You can check out the trailer directly below or in high-definition at Moviefone and then check out the seven new images and brand new poster right here.
Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant hits theaters on October 23.
