UPDATE: Paddy Considine Offered ‘Punisher 2’ Villain Role?

UPDATE: Apparently the offer has been withdrawn as Paddy now says, “he original choice for Jigsaw dropped out, then they offerered it to me. I’m very dubious because the other films looked shite. Then whoever is responsible said that their original choice has decided to do it, therefore pulling my offer. The only blessing was that I didn’t waste an hour of my life reading the script. That be the way of the film world.”

The original report follows.

Aside from getting your movie news from a site called RopeofSilicon.com (what does that even mean anyway?) movie news turns up in the oddest places some times as ComingSoon has found this site in which Paddy Considine revealed on the forums that he has been offered the role of villain Jigsaw in Lionsgate’s Punisher: War Zone and will be reading the script today.

SpiderVillain tells us that Jigsaw was a two-bit punk until the Punisher wiped out his gang. During the fight, the Punisher threw Jigsaw through a plate-glass window permanently scarring his face. Jigsaw has vowed revenge and has plagued the Punisher ever since. He made his first appearance in in The Amazing Spider-Man #162 (Nov. 1976).

Punisher: War Zone will be directed by Green Street Hooligans helmer Lexi Alexander and will be set in New York, featuring Ray Stevenson taking over for Thomas Jane as Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher.
