Dave Chapelle is on top of the comedic world right now with eight-figure deals in the bank and now it seems it isn’t stopping there as the funny man is now going further into the realm of feature films with a reported collaboration with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind helmer Michel Gondry.
Details on the flick are nil, except for that it will combine music and comedy and was inspired by Wattstax a documentary of a nonstop seven-hour musical event in August 1972 at the Los Angeles Coliseum that starred soul, R&B and gospel artists and was hosted by comedian Richard Pryor.
Variety goes on to report that it will not be a concert film even though Chappelle will be doing standup and scripted comedy. There will be a documentary feel to the film with some live musical and comedic elements filmed.
