Jamie Foxx in Talks to Join Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver

Jamie Foxx will co-star as a crime boss in Baby Driver

Deadline is reporting that Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Django Unchained) is in talks to co-star in director Edgar Wright’s new film Baby Driver. The actor will be playing a crime boss who coerces the title wheelman, played by Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars), to work for him in the TriStar Pictures film, also written by Wright. Lily James (Cinderella) co-stars as Elgort’s love interest in the movie.

Baby Driver is a crime-based action film in which the lead character, named Baby because of his young-looking face, is a getaway driver for different bank robbers. One day, he gets in trouble when a bank robbery goes wrong, putting him on the run from various parties. The story is partly inspired by the “Blue Song” music video Wright directed for the band Mint Royale in 2003.

Working Title Films–the producers and financiers of the “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy” (i.e. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End)–will be teaming with MRC (Ted) to finance the movie. Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will be producing along with Wright’s regular producing partner Nira Park.
