Ronda Rousey to Star in Autobiographical Film Based on Her Book

UFC champion Ronda Rousey will star in Paramount’s film of her autobiography

Mixed martial arts fighter-turned-actress Ronda Rousey has made a big impression in recent action fare like The Expendables 3 and Furious 7, and now Variety is reporting that she will star as herself in Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of her own New York Times best-selling autobiography My Fight/Your Fight.

Rousey will have a couple of powerful pros in her corner on the film, including producer Mary Parent (Pacific Rim, Noah) and screenwriter Mark Bomback (The Wolverine, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), who has just begun the adaption in the wake of Rousey’s much-publicized 34-second knockout of Bethe Correia this past Saturday. She is the first and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and has an undefeated record as well as having won eleven out of her twelve MMA fights in the first round.

“It’s a real honor to be a part of bringing Ronda’s incredible story to the big screen,” Parent said.

The film, like the book, will likely follow the many challenges faced in Rousey’s rise to the top of her sport. She most recently portrayed herself in this summer’s Entourage movie, and will next be seen in Peter Berg’s Indonesia-set actioner Mile 22 opposite Mark Wahlberg and Iko Uwais.
