Ghost Rider: Ryan Gosling & Huge Spider-Man Character Need Crossover, Says Avengers’ RDJ

Robert Downey Jr. wants Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider and an iconic Spider-Man character to cross paths. At the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, Gosling was officially revealed as the leading star of the upcoming Ghost Rider MCU movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, RDJ expressed his wish for a special crossover moment with Gosling (Johnny Blaze) as Ghost Rider in the MCU. “I want him and Spider-Noir with Nic to come back in and be a motorcycle and sidecar,” he said.

Nicolas Cage, who played Spider-Noir in this year’s Prime Video live-action TV show, has famously portrayed Ghost Rider’s character already in the past. He played stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze in 2007’s Ghost Rider and then reprised the role in 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Downey’s pitch envisions Cage returning to share screen space as Spider-Noir alongside Gosling’s new version of the Spirit of Vengeance. Speaking more of RDJ, he has his own movie coming this year, Avengers: Doomsday.

When is Avengers: Doomsday releasing?

Avengers: Doomsday is releasing in theaters on December 18, 2026. It will mark the return of Joe and Anthony Russo into the MCU after their last project, which was 2019’s blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.

In Avengers: Doomsday, Robert Downey Jr. will also make a comeback to the MCU, but in a completely new role. He will be the main antagonist of the story, Victor von Doom, aka Doctor Doom.

According to the official synopsis, the movie “follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”

Besides RDJ, Doomsday also features other notable and familiar faces. The ensemble cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow, and Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman.

Other key cast members include Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, and more.
