Batman fans can watch 2 free episodes of an underrated DC animated TV show ahead of its second season release. Developed by Bruce Timm, the superhero series is now available to watch without a Prime Video subscription.
What Batman TV show episodes can DC fans now watch for free?
Prime Video has released the first two episodes of Batman: Caped Crusader Season 1 on YouTube, allowing fans to catch the action-thriller for free. The episodes arrive a week before Season 2 premieres on Prime Video next Friday.
The freebies allow longtime DC fans to revisit the beginning of the series while introducing new viewers to Batman stories featuring detective-style action before the new season drops. Prime Video will also release three more episodes as daily drops on its official YouTube channel.
For those unfamiliar, Batman: Caped Crusader is a film noir-inspired reimagining of Batman’s stories in his early years as he fights crime, corruption, and mysteries of Gotham City. The show draws inspiration from Batman stories of the 1940s and 1960s. It features serialized storytelling, with each episode featuring a standalone detective case that leads to a bigger plot.
Hamish Linklater leads the voice cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman, joined by Jason Watkins as Alfred Pennyworth, Eric Morgan Stuart as James Gordon, Krystal Joy Brown as Barbara Gordon, and John DiMaggio as Harvey Bullock. A recent report also confirmed that House of the Dragon star Matthew Needham joins the cast for Season 2 as the voice of The Joker.
Bruce Timm also serves as showrunner with James Tucker while both executive produce the show with J. J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, Ed Brubaker, Daniel Pipski, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Sam Register.
The first season opened to a positive response from critics, and it currently holds an impeccable 94% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it received a modest response from the fans with a 55% Popcornmeter score.
Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 premieres on Prime Video with all ten episodes on July 31, 2026.
