In the build-up to Ted Lasso Season 4, the salary that star Jason Sudeikis earned for the third season has come to light. The 50-year-old comedian not only cashed in a massive paycheck for leading the Apple TV series but also had the option to increase his compensation further.
Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso paycheck comes to light ahead of Season 4
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sudeikis took home $1 million per episode during Ted Lasso Season 3. Additionally, the two-time Golden Globe winner had the opportunity to earn “significantly more” if he had agreed to extend the series at the time.
Nevertheless, Sudeikis continued to oppose the idea of renewing Ted Lasso for Season 4 for a long time. For the Apple TV series co-creator, the promise of a lucrative deal wasn’t enough to compromise on the issue. “That wasn’t a negotiation tactic,” Sudeikis said of his decision in the interview. “The story was told. Ted went home to be with his son. I wasn’t going to have Ted uproot their life to justify the money truck. It made no sense to me.”
The former SNL mainstay ultimately agreed to return to the Ted Lasso setup, which is effectively undergoing a soft reboot in its fourth season. While continuing the story of the same characters, the upcoming season of the award-winning comedy drama will see Lasso take over the coaching responsibilities of AFC Richmond’s newly established women’s football team.
While most of the Ted Lasso cast were more eager to return for another season than Sudeikis, they appeared to have several reservations of their own. For instance, Hannah Waddingham was “nervous about not wanting to do it a disservice, this beautiful thing.” Meanwhile, Juno Temple kept “wondering if you’d be good enough, and if you can remember how to do it.”
Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres on Apple TV on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
