Prime Video just dropped some exciting news for horror-loving fans. The streaming platform has officially greenlit a brand-new horror TV show spearheaded by the creative minds behind Superman & Lois.

Amazon MGM Studios has given a formal go-ahead to Stillwater, a high-stakes horror drama co-created by Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray, per an exclusive report from Deadline. Berlanti, well known for his work on Superman & Lois and You, adapted the project alongside Wray from the acclaimed Skybound graphic novel series by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez. The platform has officially confirmed an eight-episode first season.
With the project now cleared for production, casting and principal photography are expected to get underway later this year. This timeline makes a late 2027 release date likely.
Following the official announcement from Prime Video, Berlanti and Wray shared their enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We’re thrilled to dive into Stillwater because it’s far beyond the usual immortality story. It’s a horror show about a community that has to decide what forever is worth and what they’re willing to do to protect it.”
The duo also praised Zdarsky and Pérez’s source material, describing the original comic run as “terrifying” and “deeply human.”
The plot of Stillwater focuses mainly on an ex-con, Daniel West. The story takes a dark turn when West comes across a mysterious letter. It promises him resolution about his past trauma while also guaranteeing a lucrative inheritance in the isolated town of Stillwater. However, things take a dark turn once West visits Stillwater.
In a freaky discovery, he finds out that no one within the town ever dies and the concept of aging is also non-existent. What is even more eerie is the realization that nobody ever gets out of the town.
Warner Bros. Television, together with Amazon MGM Studios, will be in charge of the production of the upcoming mind-bending horror drama.
