Kevin Feige’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Review Is Exactly What Fans Would Want

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and Sony Pictures Entertainment’s chairwoman Amy Pascal have shared their verdict on Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fans will be delighted to learn what they had to say about the movie.

Kevin Feige praises Destin Daniel Cretton in his Spider-Man: Brand New Day reaction

During an interview with Collider, Feige and Pascal discussed their reaction to Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. “Actually, it was the first time that Kevin and I stood up after a director’s cut and cheered,” Pascal recalled. “That’s how good it was. That’s how good Destin is.”

When the interviewer noted that the movie has shots of Tom Holland’s titular character swinging through the city, Pascal responded, “That was the intention with this movie, was to go back to seeing Spider-Man be a part of New York City in a way that we’ve held back on in the previous three Tom Holland movies.”

Meanwhile, Feige had nothing but praise for the director, before underscoring how Cretton’s usage of multiple source materials helped the movie. “Destin did a very good job, as you can tell, of pulling from the comics, pulling from very specific comic covers, as you saw, and even the PlayStation game,” he explained. “That has added to the visual language of Spider-Man in such an amazing way.”

During the same interview, Feige and Pascal also confirmed that the movie takes place before Avengers: Doomsday and four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Cretton directed the movie from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It’s the fourth Spider-Man movie featuring Holland and the first one with Cretton at the helm. According to the log line, Peter begins to undergo a major transformation while living in a world that doesn’t remember him. He may not have the powers to control these changes, but they are the only things that can help him protect his city from a mysterious new threat.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes out in US theaters on July 31, 2026.
