Star Wars’ The Mandalorian and Grogu just got its digital release
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu officially arrived on digital platforms on July 21, 2026. Overall, the film earned $344.8 million at the worldwide box office against a reported $165 million production budget. As a result, it now holds the record as the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars film in the franchise’s history.
The digital release comes exactly two months after the film opened in theaters on May 22. Currently, buyers can purchase the movie on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home and other platforms. Amazon lists the film at $29.99 to buy and $24.99 to rent.
Director Jon Favreau helmed the project after creating the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The show ran for three seasons from 2019 to 2023. Pedro Pascal stars as bounty hunter Din Djarin alongside Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt and Sigourney Weaver as New Republic colonel Ward.
At the domestic box office, the film opened to $98.1 million across its four-day Memorial Day weekend. However, it then suffered a 70% drop in its second weekend, falling to third place behind newcomers Backrooms and Obsession. By its third weekend, the film fell out of the top five after grossing just $10 million.
Meanwhile, physical media copies will follow the digital release on August 25, 2026. Disney plans to release the film on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Both the digital and physical releases will include bonus features and an audio commentary with Favreau.
A Disney+ streaming date has not been announced yet, though the film will likely land on the platform around October or November 2026.
