Avengers: Doomsday‘s trailer is officially out for fans to check out. There’s a ton of things happening in it, so we’ve highlighted some of the things you might have missed.
“Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
The film is set to feature a huge cast, which includes Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, among others. Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is set to release a year later on December 17, 2027.
Three things you might have missed in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer
An all-new Avengers tower
The Avengers Tower is a staple in any Marvel project, and once again found here. However, the building has an entirely new look. Instead of a futuristic giant ‘A’ adorning the top of the building, the tower now sports an ‘A’ that looks more in line with The Fantastic Four’s 1960s style look. The group is also seen arriving in it and meeting with Thor and the other Avengers in the tower, although it’s unclear just where, or when, this scene takes place.
Loki is here, and no longer holding onto an infinite amount of timelines
When we last saw Loki, he was destroying the Temporal Loom and taking control of the multiverse’s infinite timelines. The final shot of the Disney+ series saw Loki take control of every timeline, imbue his magic into them, and sit on a throne underneath a cosmic version of the World Tree, Yggdrasil.
However, in Doomsday’s trailer, he’s back out in the real world. Loki Season 2’s ending seemed to hint that the trickster God would be forced to sit at his post for eternity, but that seems to not be the case. In our brief look at him, Loki holds a TVA identification card with a tree designed into the back of it. Does this mean Loki’s found a way to control the multiverse’s timelines from anywhere?
Spider-Man is still nowhere to be seen
The latest Doomsday trailer once again featured no mention or footage of Spider-Man. For some time now, rumors have suggested that Tom Holland’s Spidey would not be in the movie whatsoever, due to scheduling conflicts with his time on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
While he seems to be set to appear in Doomsday’s sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, it does look like Spider-Man won’t be in fighting against Doom just yet. Of course, as Spider-Man: No Way Home showed us, there’s not just one Spider-Man swinging about, so only time will tell if he’s a no-show in the movie.
