Severance Season 3 has received a promising release date update, potentially arriving sooner than anticipated. The Apple TV original show debuted in 2022 to critical acclaim, with the second season releasing three years later. A previous update from series star Adam Scott had hinted at a shorter wait time between seasons 2 and 3.
What is the update on Severance Season 3?
According to the latest issue of Production Weekly, Severance Season 3 is set to begin filming on July 27, 2026. Based on the production schedules of previous seasons, a late 2027 release appears more likely. If Apple wants the show to stick to a first-quarter release window, similar to its predecessors, then the third season may premiere in early 2028 at the latest. However, given Scott’s recent comments, a 2027 release seems likely.
Severance is one of Apple TV’s most celebrated original shows. Created by Dan Erickson and executive produced by Ben Stiller, the show has received over three dozen Primetime Emmy nominations. Britt Lower won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award for her work in the second season.
The series currently holds a 95% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The new season will see acclaimed filmmaker Kogonada directing many of its episodes, replacing Ben Stiller, who will continue to executive produce. Scott is teaming up with Severance writers for a TV adaptation of the sci-fi comic Shifter.
