A Game of Thrones is the first novel in the iconic A Song of Ice and Fire series, and was first published in 1996. The novel sets the stage for the entire saga, and introduces the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. The book would obviously go on to become a mega hit, and spawn off the larger Game of Thrones series fans know and love today.
“The 872-page single-volume book is housed in a specially designed box with a blocked suedelux interior, a hidden map compartment, and a blocked exterior featuring hand-lettering by Stephen Raw. The map is backed with linen and rolled to fit the compartment,” reads a description of the special edition of the book. “The full text, accompanied by an introduction from Joe Abercrombie, is presented in an incredible volume bound in dragon-skin leather over chamfered boards with gilding on all three edges. Every copy is signed by George R. R. Martin on a limitation label blocked in real gold. Printed in 2-colours throughout, the book will also feature illustrations tipped within borders, hand-made endpapers with a bespoke watermark, leather head and tailbands, and a clamshell box featuring a blocked GoT symbol on the inside with gold and silver blocking on the outside.”
The Folio Society is known for publishing some of the best collector editions of some of the biggest and best books ever, with previous editions of Frank Herbert’s Dune, Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, Andrew Chaikin’s A Man on the Moon and Alice Walker’s The Color Purple all available now.
