Pluribus Season 2 has received a major update. One creative revealed how far along they are in development and also shared a possible production timeline.
Pluribus Season 2 gets script and filming updates
Gordon Smith, one of the writers and directors of Pluribus, confirmed in a recent interview that he and the creatives were in the middle of developing Season 2. He also expressed hope that production may get underway by late 2026-early 2027.
The screenwriter, who directed three episodes of Season 1, told Variety that he and the team were doing their best to develop Season 2 as quickly as they could. Although he admitted that progress “which isn’t very fast, but it is the best we can do.”
He added, “We are writing, we’re about midway through Season 2, breaking it. We’re doing the best we can and we’re hoping to get back to work shooting sometime hopefully by the end of this year or early next year.”
Smith’s comments come around a month after showrunner and series creator Vince Gilligan teased whether the sophomore installment will uncover whether “The Others” have a dark motive behind their actions. While interacting with Entertainment Weekly, the creator shared, “We are all trained to watch science fiction, and indeed every kind of genre show, to look for the tropes: This happens, so therefore this happens, so therefore a twist is coming.”
He continued, “Sometimes less and more — even though we hit every trope I could think of in the first episode, just to have fun with it and subvert it. Going forward, I’m sure we’ll hit a few more along the way, but sometimes the most fun thing to do is what you’re not expecting.”
Meanwhile, all nine episodes of Pluribus Season 1 are streaming on Apple TV. Rhea Seehorn stars as Carol. She leads a supporting cast that includes Karolina Wydra as Zosia, Carlos-Manuel Vesga as Manousos, Soledad Campos as Maternal Other, Menik Gooneratne as Laxmi, and Miriam Shor as Helen, among others.
