Todd Bridges, best known for his portrayal of Willis Jackson on the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, has revealed that he is separating from his wife of three years, Bettijo B. Hirschi. TMZ was the first to report the news.
“After much prayer and reflection, my spouse and I have made the difficult decision to separate,” Bridges revealed in a statement given out to PEOPLE, “This was not an easy choice, and it comes with a heavy heart, but also with love and gratitude for the life we shared.”
The statement continued, “I thank God for the time we’ve had together, the lessons we’ve learned, and the family we’ve built. Even in this season of change, I trust He is guiding us both toward healing, peace, and new beginnings.” It added, “I ask for privacy as we navigate this transition and continue to lift my former partner up in prayer, wishing them joy and fulfillment in the chapters ahead.”
Bridges and Hirschi met in January 2022 after a friend created a dating profile for Hirschi. Six months after their first interaction, Bridges proposed. The couple married within nine months of meeting.
This marked Todd Bridges’ second marriage. However, he was married to his first wife, Dori, from 1998 to 2012, and the former couple shares two children.
In recent years, Bridges has remained relatively inactive in the entertainment industry. His last film appearance came in 2019, while his most recent television appearance was in a TV movie released in 2024.
