One of Adult Swim‘s newest adult animated comedy shows has officially received a two-season renewal, ahead of its first season finale premiere this coming Sunday. Creator Joe Cappa’s Haha, You Clowns series will be coming back for two more seasons. Before its Season 1 finale, fans can rewatch its first nine episodes on HBO Max.
“The relentlessly wholesome animated comedy follows the Campbell family – three doting teenagers, and their tenderhearted, recently widowed dad – as they navigate life’s awkward, funny, and emotional moments together,” reads the show’s logline.
What does Adult Swim say about Haha, You Clowns’ renewal?
“It’s amazing that Joe and the team made something as radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny as Haha, You Clowns,” Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said in a statement. “But what’s even more amazing is that – in this cynical, uncertain time – all of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons. In the words of the show: ‘You are strong! You are loved!’”
Haha, You Clowns is created and executive-produced by Cappa, who is also lending his voice to the show’s four main characters, Preston Campbell, Tristan Campbell, Duncan Campbell, and Tom Campbell. The voice cast also includes Kirsten Cappa as Katie and Lexi, Crystal Ortiz as Chelsea, and June Squibb as Dory. Season 1 also featured guest stars like Justin Theroux, Sean Astin, Debra Wilson, Fred Tatasciore, Vanessa Marshall, and more.
Cappa added, “I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave Haha, You Clowns a chance and spread the word. I’m incredibly thrilled I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer.”
