After Sydney Sweeney‘s limited-edition bathwater soap from Dr. Squatch sold out instantly, counterfeit versions appeared on Walmart’s online store and eBay. Now, Dr. Squatch has commented on the authenticity of the products that are being sold on secondary markets.
Dr Squatch calls out fake Sydney Sweeney soap listing on Walmart
The craze surrounding Sydney Sweeney’s limited-edition bathwater soap is not dying down. Ever since the product went out of stock on the original Dr. Squatch website, fans have come across several reselling companies advertising the product for astonishingly high prices.
Dr. Squatch has responded to the authenticity of such products sold through Walmart or other sites. The company said it “has not authorized the Sydney Sweeney Bathwater or any of our limited edition items to be sold through retail stores like Walmart or similar platforms.”
In a statement to The Sun, the soap company warned it cannot verify the authenticity of products sold outside official channels as resellers capitalize on the viral soap’s popularity.
Consumers have also come across fake and bizarre products advertised as Sweeney’s new soap variants. Among the fake listings, fans noticed hygiene products such as “Sydney’s Toilet P— Bliss Bar Soap” and “Bloody Bliss Soap.”
Walmart has responded to the claims of counterfeit products listed on its sites. In a statement to The Sun, the shopping chain stated, “Walmart has zero tolerance for fraudulent sellers or the sale of products with false claims. We expect sellers and suppliers to provide accurate and honest descriptions about their products to our customers.”
Most Sweeney-related Dr. Squatch products have been taken down from Walmart’s website. However, eBay has several listings of bathwater soap and toilet soap.
In other news, Sweeney had moved on from her Dr. Squatch collaboration. The Euphoria star has teamed up with the popular ice cream chain, Baskin-Robbins, for an upcoming launch.
The new “Sydney menu” from the global ice cream chain will offer two special delicacies. These will be “Sydney’s Signature Scoop” and “Sydney’s Signature Fizz.” Sweeney’s signature scoop will contain rainbow sherbet in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone. Rainbow sprinkles and mini gummy bears will be the toppers of the special treat.
Sydney’s Signature Fizz beverage will also have rainbow sherbet along with lemon soda and gummy bear minis. The special menu will be available from July 1 onwards.
