Tom Hardy-Led MobLand Breaks Viewership Record for Paramount+

With Tom Hardy’s MobLand now streaming on Paramount+, its record-breaking premiere and global reception have drawn significant industry attention. The series debuted with 2.2 million viewers, securing the platform’s biggest global series launch to date. As streaming competition intensifies, MobLand’s performance signals the continued demand for high-profile, star-driven crime dramas.

Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan drama MobLand rakes in 2.2 global views

This marks the largest global series premiere in the streaming service’s history, surpassing Tulsa King and joining 1923 and Landman as the platform’s top three launches.

Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, stated: “MobLand is a runaway success thanks to the visionary work of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser and brought to life by the exceptional Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren who transport us into a world audiences clearly cannot get enough of.” McCarthy also said the show “builds on our 2024 record success where we finished as the #2 SVOD for original series time spent viewing” (via Deadline).

Ronan Bennett created and wrote MobLand. Jez Butterworth also contributed to the writing. Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios produced the series. This is Butterworth’s second project for Paramount+ after The Agency. Both series were developed under his exclusive overall deal with Paramount+ and Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.

MobLand follows a global crime syndicate. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren portray Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, respectively, a married mob couple. Tom Hardy plays their loyal fixer, Harry Da Souza. The supporting cast includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Jasmine Jobson, Mandeep Dhillon, and many others.

MobLand premiered simultaneously in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia. It will release in Italy, Germany, France, Latin America, and Brazil on May 30. The series has received mostly mixed-to-positive reviews from critics.
