The Last Ronin: R-Rated Live-Action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie In Development

It’s been revealed that the popular and intense Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story The Last Ronin is being turned into an live-action, R-rated movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is in development at Paramount with Walter Hamada set to produce the film through 18hz. The script for the movie is being written by Tyler Burton Smith, who previously wrote 2019’s Child’s Play and the forthcoming action movie Boy Kills World.

“Who is the Last Ronin? In a future, battle-ravaged New York City, a lone surviving Turtle embarks on a seemingly hopeless mission seeking justice for the family he lost,” reads the comic‘s synopsis. “From legendary TMNT co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, get ready for the final story of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles three decades in the making! What terrible events destroyed his family and left New York a crumbling, post-apocalyptic nightmare? All will be revealed in this climactic Turtle tale that sees longtime friends becoming enemies and new allies emerging in the most unexpected places. Can the surviving Turtle triumph?”
