Melrose Place Reboot in the Works Starring Heather Locklear, Other Original Cast Members

The 1990s soap opera Melrose Place is making a return, with Deadline reporting that Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton, and Daphne Zuniga are returning for a series reboot.

Locklear, Leighton, and Zuniga will reprise their roles as Amanda Woodward, Sydney Andrews, and Jo Reynolds, respectively. The series is currently in development at CBS Studios and is currently being shopped to networks and streamers.

The Melrose Place reboot will be written by Lauren Gussis, who created the Netflix series Insatiable. According to Deadline’s report, the new Melrose Place series will pick up “years after the original series” and gives an update on various characters.

“When one of their dearest friends dies suddenly, the OG residents of Melrose Place gather to honor the deceased,” reads the series logline, according to Deadline. “But the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets . . . throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

Melrose Place was a massive success in the 1990s

Originally premiering in 1992, Melrose Place told the story of a group of young adults all living in the same apartment complex on Melrose Place in West Hollywood, California. The series ran for seven seasons with more than 200 episodes, and is often seen as one of the greatest soap operas of its time.

Alongside Locklear, Leighton, and Zuniga, the series also starred Linden Ashby, Josie Bissett, Thomas Calabro, David Charvet, Marcia Cross, Kristin Davis, and more. The series came to an end in 1999.
