Jim Parson Teases Appearance in Young Sheldon Series Finale

Nearly five years since The Big Bang Theory ended its 12-season run, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik are once again reprising their respective roles as Sheldon and Amy in the upcoming Young Sheldon series finale.

Speaking with ET, Parsons finally broke his silence regarding his return as Sheldon, teasing a “beautiful” ending to CBS’s first Big Bang Theory spin-off.

“It was even more beautiful than I expected it to be,” He said. “One of the reasons I was excited to do it is because what they wrote is so sweet and I think they worked Mayimand I into that show so beautifully. I hope everyone agrees.”

Parsons also opened up about his experience on the set of Young Sheldon, revealing that it took him a while to get use to playing his iconic character’s quirks again.

“To get to go with Mayim, in a world we’re really guests and revisit these characters a little older, just a completely different circumstance.” He continued, “We finished our first read-through, we didn’t tape it. We just went in and felt around the set, and Mayim nailed it when she walked back and said, ‘Uh, I thought I’d feel a lot more confident than this.’ I said, ‘Me, too.’ I really thought it’d be like putting on a pair of old shoes and then eventually it was, but not for about an hour or so. And I was like, ‘Do I still know how to talk like this?’ It was weird.”

When will the Young Sheldon series finale premiere?

The hour-long series finale of Young Sheldon is scheduled to debut on Thursday, May 16. The Big Bang Theory spin-off will be followed by another spin-off centered around Georgie and Mandy as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage. The untitled comedy is expected to be released during CBS’s 2024-2025 broadcast season.

Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, Young Sheldon currently stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Annie Potts, Emily Osment, Raegan Revord, and Matt Hobby. The sitcom is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
