Fallout takes place in the 1940s after a nuclear war and the television series will feature Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner as showrunners. Robertson-Dworet has writing credits on Captain Marvel and the 2018 Tomb Raider film, while Wagner has experience as an executive producer on Portlandia, Silicon Valley, and Baskets. Jonathan Nolan is set to direct the premiere. Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Aaron MotenElla Purnell, and Walton Goggins have all been confirmed for the show.

Fallout is a series of role-playing games that began in 1997. Set in a post-apocalyptic 1950s-themed United States, the Fallout series puts players in the role of various wanderers and survivors as they freely traverse an American wasteland filled with mutants, radiated animals, and bandits. The next mainline title, Fallout 5, will apparently enter development once The Elder Scrolls VI is completed.
