Sniper Elite 5 Kill Cam

Sniper Elite 5 Explains Enhanced Kill Cam Controls in Gory Detail

On the surface, the Sniper Elite games are tense historical shooters focused on taking out Nazi scum quickly and quietly. If you turn off the game’s kill cam in the options, that’s exactly the game you’re getting, but that’s also not how most people play the game. Sniper Elite has always reveled in its excess, and that’s almost entirely due to the series warping around its ultraviolent X-ray debauchery. Developer Rebellion is aware of this as it encourages bloodthirsty fans to “leave no skull unpopped” in the latest kill cam-centric trailer for Sniper Elite 5, the latest entry set to release on May 26.

Alongside the trailer, Rebellion has confirmed new details and features regarding Sniper Elite 5‘s bone-crunching violence. For the first time, players can get slow-motion glory using Karl Fairburne’s full arsenal of SMGs and Pistols alongside his trusty long-range rifle and knife takedowns. Bullets can now even ricochet off enemy bones, allowing them to pierce multiple organs more easily. It’s all just a showcase for just how brutal these firearms can be to the human body.

As in past games, players can adjust the frequency of the kill cam, making it either a rare treat or an ever-present old friend depending on preference. This time out, Rebellion has also added camera controls to these over-the-top kills, letting players speed up, slow down, or adjust camera angles on their cinematic slaughter.

In news not centered on the type of ultraviolence that would cause Jack Thompson to jolt awake in the night, Rebellion also threw in a few new details about Sniper Elite 5‘s weapon customization, which it thoroughly explained in April through another showcase video. Players can find workbenches throughout each mission that give Karl the tools to customize his weaponry as he goes. Players no longer have to quit and reload to change their gameplay style, unlocking brand new ways to clobber Hitler’s war machine.
