Evil Dead: The Game Delayed, New Release Date Set

The Evil Dead video game has officially been delayed, with the game now officially moving from its vague February release date. Evil Dead: The Game will now launch on May 13, 2022 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The news came from the official Evil Dead: The Game Twitter account. The reason for the delay wasn’t specifically stated other than the developer noting that this move gives the team the best chance to make the game the best it can be, as is the case with many delays.

“When we set out to create a brand new game worthy of the Evil Dead franchise, we knew it had to be groovy as hell,” read the next tweet in the thread announcing the delay. “In order to deliver the best possible experience, Evil Dead: The Game is now coming on May 13, 2022. This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May. We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

Alongside the news of the delay, the tweet also revealed that pre-order info for the game, as well as a brand-new trailer, would be released in February. However, the tweet was not more specific.

This is now the second delay that has hit Evil Dead: The Game. The first occurred in August 2021, and saw the game pushed back into 2022 in order to add a single-player experience in addition to more polish.

The asymmetrical horror game was first announced at The Game Awards in 2020. The first bits of gameplay debuted at Summer Game Fest in June 2021, showing bits of classic characters from the films as well as the fan-favorite television series, Ash vs. Evil Dead.
