Rugrats Revival Adds Tony Hale, Natalie Morales & More to Voice Cast

Paramount+ has announced the new members of the voice cast for their upcoming CG-animated Rugrats revival, based on the classic Nickelodeon 90s’ children’s series of the same name. Tony Hale (Toy Story 4), Natalie Morales (BoJack Horseman), Nicole Byer (Snoopy in Space), Anna Chlumsky (My Girl), Ashley Rae Spillers (Vice Principals), Tommy Dewey, Timothy Simons, Omar Miller, and Michael McKean have been tapped to lend their voices to the parents of the titular toddlers.

“This incredibly talented group of actors provides a fresh and very funny take on these iconic roles, combining humor with heart to bring the characters to life in a whole new way,” Nickelodeon’s Senior Vice President, Talent and Casting, Liz Paulson said in a statement (via TheWrap).

Spillers and Dewey will be voicing Tommy’s parents with Hale and McKlean set to voice Chuckie’s father and Grandpa Lou Pickcles, respectively. Meanwhile, Morales is voicing the role of Phil and Lil’s mother; Anna Chlumsky and Timothy Simons as Angelica’s parents; and Nicole Byer and Omar Miller as Susie’s parents.

The Rugrats revival was officially confirmed last month and is currently set to debut in the spring of 2021. The new cast members will be joining the original main voice cast for the children including E.G. Daily, Nancy Cartwright, Cheryl Chase, Cree Summer, and Kath Soucie as they reprise the roles of Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Angelica Pickles, Susie Carmichael, Phil and Lil DeVille.

The CG-animated series is executive produced by Eryk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier along with Dave Pressler and Casey Leonard. Rachel Lipman is also serving as a producer with Kellie Smith set as a line producer.

The original Rugrats was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain. It debuted 30 years ago in 1991 and was in production for nine seasons. Due to its popularity, it spawned off a film trilogy as well as a sequel series titled All Grown Up! which featured the toddlers in their teens.
