Garfield’s New Voice Actor Is Jumanji Star as Paramount+ Orders TV Show

A new Garfield animated series is coming to Paramount+.

Pramount+ has announced that an original 2D-animated Garfield TV show is in the works. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studios, the show is inspired by the original comic strip that was created by Jim Davis.

Who is voicing Garfield in the new Paramount+ TV show?

Lamorne Morris will be providing the voice of Garfield in the new Paramount+ TV show.

Morris is known for playing Winston Bishop on the New Girl sitcom, which ran from 2011 to 2018. Having starred as Heater Repair Man in 2019’s Jumanji: The Next Level, Morris will soon be reprising that role in the next Jumanji movie, which is currently in production and is scheduled to be released in December 2026.

The actor won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his performance as Trooper Witt Farr in Fargo Season 5. He’ll also soon be seen portraying Robbie Robertson in the forthcoming Spider-Noir show, which premieres this coming May.

Beyond that, Morris’ filmography includes 2016’s Barbershop: The Next Cut, 2018’s Game Night, 2018’s The Christmas Chronicles, 2020’s Bloodshot, 2023’s Night Shift, 2024’s Not Another Church Movie, and 2024’s Saturday Night, among other titles.

“The series features the chonky feline at his finest, with each episode featuring the pop culture icon’s signature sarcasm and hilarious lackadaisy,” Paramount+ said of the Garfield show. Dave H. Johnson (Middlemost Post) and John Trabbic III (SpongeBob SquarePants, Middlemost Post) both serve as executive producers.

Further details remain under wraps at this time. A release date has not yet been set.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Garfield Movie is currently available to stream on Netflix. Chris Pratt voices the titular tabby cat in that movie, while Samuel L. Jackson voices his father. A sequel is currently in development.
