The Final Season of iZombie Adds Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Its Cast

The upcoming fifth and final season of the CW’s iZombie has cast Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in a supporting role, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The former basketball player will play one of two members of the Seattle City Council who didn’t leave the city after the wall was erected. iZombie star Rose McIver (Masters of Sex) tweeted a photo of her with the NBA legend.

Abdul-Jabbar is no stranger to acting, though he’ll probably be best-remembered playing himself in the 1980 disaster satire Airplane!

The series also stars Malcolm Goodwin (“Breakout Kings”) as Clive Babineaux, Rahul Kohli as Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, Robert Buckley (“One Tree Hill”) as Major Lilywhite and David Anders (“The Vampire Diaries”) as Blaine DeBeers.

Based upon characters created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, and published by DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, iZombie is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Spondoolie Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Rob Thomas (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down,” “Cupid”), Diane Ruggiero-Wright (“Veronica Mars,” “The Ex List,” “That’s Life”), Danielle Stokdyk (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down,” “Cupid”) and Dan Etheridge (“Veronica Mars,” “Party Down”).

iZombie’s fifth season will premiere on The CW sometime in 2019.
